Electrical Engineering Mission Statement

The focus of the Department of Electrical Engineering is to provide excellent education in modern electrical engineering practice. Our graduates are uniquely qualified for rewarding and successful careers in a diverse range of electrical engineering fields, including materials, devices, circuits, digital systems, signal/speech/image processing, and communications.

The Program Educational Objectives and newly developed measurements associated with each one
is listed below:

Mission of the Telecommunications Engineering (TE) Program

The focus of the Telecommunications Engineering degrees is to provide excellent education in modern communications networks and systems. Our graduates are trained in a variety of subfields of telecommunication engineering at the systems level. This prepares them for rewarding and successful careers in telecommunications, data communications, network architecture, wireless, optical networking and next generation networks.

TE Undergraduate Program Educational Goals

The broad Goal statement agreed upon by the TE Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) is:

"The focus of UTD's Telecommunications Engineering degrees is to provide excellent education in modern communications networks and systems. Our graduates shall be uniquely qualified to apply traditional engineering design and problem solving skills in modern telecommunications.”

TE Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) also agreed upon with the IAB are:

EE and TE Undergraduate Program Outcomes

The EE and TE Programs have chosen our program outcomes to correspond exactly to the Outcome requirements of ABET's Criterion 3 because these are excellent indicators of what today’s engineering students require for a successful career.
