Chris Caicedo
Undergraduate in computer science
Why did you choose UT Dallas?
One of the deciding factors was that there are so many high-tech companies nearby where there are opportunities for internships and jobs.
What are you studying?
Computer science right now, but I’m planning to change majors to computer engineering. I want to be able to design and work with microelectronics and computer architecture — basically to design a computer’s hardware from scratch.
What’s great about studying here?
My friends and my fraternity brothers, and I’ve had some very interesting classes. I liked programming, and I’m really looking forward to the digital systems class because I love playing around with electronics and devices. Physics was pretty neat too, even though it was a tough class.
What’s been the most fun so far?
Joining a fraternity, and being part of a bunch of groups on campus. And my job at the UTD tech store, where being computer-savvy pays good money.
What do you like about student life at UTD?
Playing soccer on weekday nights.
What do you hope to do after graduation?
I would like to pursue a master’s degree in computer architecture that leads to an internship and then a full-time job working with printed circuitry or computer hardware.
